Guinness World Records
Mid-America Science Museum in Hot Springs, Arkansas is the home of the worlds most powerful operating conical Tesla Coil. Only 3.5% or 2,244 claims were approved in 2006 out of a total of 65,000 applications. Guinness is the universally recognized authority on record-breaking achievements.
Sermon From Science
Richard and Mary Ellen Mathias (Professor Sparky) of Hot Springs Village sponsored the 1.5 million-volt "Caged Lightning" Tesla Coil Exhibit-installed in 2002. In addition, they created the Sermon from Science electrifying educational program in 2005. After forty-two presentations to public and private schools, professional and civic organizations during the past seven years, Richard and Mary Ellen has decided to retire the SFS program.
The SFS program offered a concise look into the genius mind of inventor extraordinaire Nikola Tesla - the man who developed alternating current that electrified the world, and dozens of other life-enriching inventions. Sharing Nikola Teslas intriguing "Life and Times" reached over 22,000 students. The electrifying demonstrations of both the 400,000 volt conical Tesla Coil and companion Electrical Climbing Arc (Jacobs ladder), made an indelible imprecision on many youth who never had the opportunity to see or hear such an inspiring and educational presentation.
The "Caged Lightning" Tesla Coil will remain as a permanent exhibit in the new Tesla Theater at Mid-America Science Museum (several shows daily).
Tesla Coil Museum Exhibit Program (TCMEP)
As a separate outreach to qualifying USA museums, Richard has established a Perpetual Exhibit Program whereby a conical Tesla Coil will be donated as a permanent operating exhibit each year through 2022. This program is not associated with the Mid-America Science Museum.
